Of boom vangs and gybe-ohs
These 4 days had been very eventful and exhausting. Sailing turned out to be much more difficult then I had expected. When I watch people sailing in videos, they seem calm and serene, enjoying every moment of their experience. I can't say the same for mine for these 4 days. Sometimes it just turned out to be bloody frustrating...... but at other times it is rather thrilling...... especailly when ur boat tilts 45 degrees to the side while you are sailing a close haul(upwind direction) and you have to hike out your body to keep the boat from capsizing and gripping the tiller(rudder control) and the mainsheet(sail control) as hard as you can...... you start to get frightened as things might just go out of control as the wind is blowing very strong and you are doing all you can to keep your head dry...... (not feet. Your feet will never be dry during sailing.)
I passed the level 1 sailing proficiency test today...... really glad to have done so, after all the trouble that we all went through...... cuts and bruises, getting stunned(whacked) by the swinging of the boom, oil slicks stains, blue-black marks, capsized boats that refused to be uprighted properly, collisions, sailing into no-go zones, yelling instructors, heavy winds, huge waves that crash our boats onto the shore, sands in our sandals, dragging the boats up and down the beach and back to the sailing centre and out of it, cleaning the sand-clogged boats, assembling and disassembling all the parts of the boat...... and now, I'm a qualified recreational sailor! Yay......
Besides, its nice to have a slight tan......
